Mediation

These services are available to Isle of Man Government Departments, Boards and Offices and their employees only.

Internal Mediation Service

The Internal Mediation Service aims to provide a service for teams or individuals who finds themselves in a dispute or conflict at work that they cannot resolve.

Referrals

The Service can accept referrals from any:

• department
• statutory board
• office of the IOM Government

Referrals are generally generated by line managers but we can accept referrals from higher management, union representatives, Occupational Health, Staff Welfare and Office of Human Resources HR Advisors.

Please note that we do not accept self-referrals.

Schedule dates

Mediation dates for the year are scheduled in advance with mediators and the mediation venues. There are 2 scheduled mediation sessions per month. Once a referral has been received, the manger will be contacted to confirm that all parties can be released as required.

We aim to make contact with the manager and all parties within two weeks of the referral being received to arrange a suitable date.

The process

The mediation process is a full-day and therefore requires all parties to be available on the day of the mediation from 9am to 5.30pm. Parties involved in team mediation will also need to be released for individual meetings prior to the full-day mediation session.
