Employees who take an approved break of service return to the terms and conditions which applied at the commencement of the career break. 

Employees who occupied a relief, bank or casual post prior to the effective date of the agreement and have continuously occupied such a post, will be eligible to receive the full former terms and conditions applicable if they are appointed to an identical substantive post at the same grade (subject to continuous service commencing only from the start date of the substantive post) but if recruited to a permanent post which is not identical to that which they occupied on a relief, bank or casual basis, then they will be treated in all respects as a new starter.
