Payments for work on public and privilege holidays
Article 10
A) Dayworkers
- A dayworker required to work on a public or privilege holiday shall, in addition to the normal pay for that day, be paid at plain-time rate for the hours worked, with a minimum payment for 4 hours. Also for work done on a public or privilege holiday within the hours normally worked on that day, time-off with pay shall be allowed as follows:
- when the time worked is less than 4 hours – half day off
- when the time worked is 4 hours or more – full day off
- A dayworker required to work on 2 occasions on a public or privilege holiday shall be paid in accordance with sub-para. (i) hereof in respect of the first occasion and, in respect of the second occasions be paid plain-time rate for the hours actually worked on that second occasion unless those hours are outside normal working hours when payment shall be made at double-time rate.
B) Shift Workers
- A shift worker required to work on a public or privilege holiday shall, in addition to the normal pay for that shift, be paid at plain-time rate for the hours worked. Also for work done on a public or privilege holiday, within the hours normally worked on that day, time off with pay shall be allowed as follows:
- when the time worked is less than half the number of hours normally worked on the shift on that day – half shift off
- when the time worked is at least half the number of hours normally worked on the shift on that day – full shift off
C) General
Work on a public or privilege holiday outside normal working hours shall be paid for, as overtime, at double time in complete recompense.
Note: These arrangements do not apply to Airport Firefighters who are covered by a local agreement dated 9 October 2006.
