Attendance on professional association courses / conferences

G15

Where a civil servant is a member of a professional association which holds conferences and the department considers that it would be useful for them to attend, they should be encouraged to do so, subject to the needs of the department.

Where a civil servant is permitted to attend, they may be required to submit a written report on the conference to their Accounting Officer.

Civil servants permitted to attend courses and conferences should be paid the same travelling and subsistence allowances as would be paid to them on normal Government business.
