Attendance on professional association courses / conferences

Where a civil servant is a member of a professional association which holds conferences and the department considers that it would be useful for him to attend, he should be encouraged to do so, subject to the needs of the department.

Where a civil servant is permitted to attend, he may be required to submit a written report on the conference to his Accounting Officer.

Civil servants permitted to attend courses and conferences should be paid the same travelling and subsistence allowances as would be paid to them on normal Government business.
