What we can offer you
There are many benefits to working within the Isle of Man Public Service.
Take a look below to see some of the great benefits we offer.
Investing in you
Continuous Learning is important to us and by joining the Isle of Man Public Service you will gain access to an extensive range of personal and professional development through:
- support gaining professional qualifications
- personal development through challenging work projects
- our Learning, Education and Development centre (LEaD) which offers an extensive range of courses including leadership development
Our approach to staff development means you’ll have regular opportunities to discuss your development with your manager and receive support to help you achieve success in your chosen career.

Pay and leave
We offer competitive salaries, parental leave, rewarding pension plans and death in service so that you can take care of yourself and your loved ones.
We offer generous annual leave entitlement to our employees, in addition to 10 Manx public holidays.
Term time employees do not receive separate annual leave instead it is built into their contracted terms. Part time employees receive pro-rata annual leave entitlement. Zero hour contracts are usually paid for annual leave.
For most terms and conditions there are pay scales where you move up the scale annually until you reach the top. Many of our posts where shift work is required also attract additional shift allowances.
Great places to work
We have some great sites across the Public Service at which many of our people are based. In addition to the excellent facilities and the beautiful views, we offer you a safe and supportive environment for your career in the Public Service.
Flexibility
We appreciate that 9 to 5 doesn't work for everyone!
Flexible working opportunities are available in some roles and we have a wide range or roles which are designed to support how you want to work including part time, term time and zero hour contracts.
The Isle of Man Public Service is an equal opportunities employer which supports and promotes flexible working. We understand its benefits in improving work-life balance and supporting health and wellbeing and in its different forms; it is widespread throughout the Public Service. We are happy to discuss working from home arrangements for our roles (where possible) and we have excellent remote access infrastructure which makes working from home more accessible and feasible for many of our roles.
Each job will indicate on the advert what the hours and working pattern for the role is and whether job share opportunities are available.
Keeping healthy and well
We have great wellbeing initiatives across the Public Service.
Health and wellbeing groups have been established in many areas with dedicated leads for social, physical and psychological wellbeing. We have many wellbeing activities, from our staff choir to mental health awareness sessions. We also have courses such as ‘Healthy Worker’ and Retirement Preparation available to our employees.
We want to look after the wellbeing of our employees – we have a staff welfare team that our employees can speak to confidentially, as well as our occupational health service who can provide confidential and impartial medical advice.
